New Warehouse Solutions Unveiled at Live Demo Days
New Warehouse Solutions Unveiled at Live Demo Days
Jarrett Tilton
November 16, 2021
Last week, the Honeywell Intelligrated Demo Center hosted a live Demo Days event, featuring the most recent innovations in warehouse efficiency. Attendees had the opportunity to see the latest enhanced hardware and software solutions, designed to solve real-world challenges and meet measurable key performance indicators (KPIs).
Smart storage solutions on display included:
- Enhanced automated storage and retrieval system (AS/RS) shuttles
- Fully integrated goods-to-person (GTP) fulfillment and inventory decant stations
- Momentum eSim WES-enabled simulation
- Smart flexible depalletizer
- Autonomous mobile robots (AMRs)
Advanced AS/RS and GTP Solutions
The latest version of AS/RS technology is designed to help you quickly move higher volumes of product and make the best possible use of your available workspaces. Scalable to nearly any footprint, AS/RS shuttles can combine with fully integrated GTP fulfillment and inventory decant stations to deliver a 30 to 40% increase in throughput compared to traditional picking methods.
You can achieve even greater AS/RS efficiency by leveraging next-generation Momentum WES software with Decision Intelligence. This winning combination optimizes inventory allocation in up to 40% less space, while reducing your labor costs and achieving up to 99.9% order accuracy.
Momentum eSim
Available as an add-on to the Momentum WES, Momentum eSim is a simulation and emulation tool that creates a digital replica of your automated material handling equipment (MHE) and software. This powerful resource provides you with an end-to-end, integrated view of your distribution center (DC), the ability to run multiple “what-if” scenarios, plus ongoing predictive analyses of your systems and labor. In addition to proactively monitoring your operation and potentially detecting problems before they cause costly downtime, Momentum eSim provides valuable insights about how your DC is functioning and actionable suggestions for improvement.
By combining the benefits of both simulation (digitally approximating the behavior and performance of systems) and emulation (using machine control code or other software to control digital replicas of physical equipment), Momentum eSim enables you to achieve higher productivity goals, decrease waste, and meet the challenges of the future.
Smart Flexible Depalletizer
Although fully automated solutions for depalletizing have been elusive for many years, they’re now a practical reality. Smart flexible robotic depalletizers can process single- and mixed-SKU pallets up to 8 feet tall in any sequence or pattern without human supervision. This enables depalletizing cells to work continuously without interruption or pre-programming, delivering higher throughput at a lower operational cost.
Smart flexible depalletizing cells can deliver immediate benefits by lifting multiple items simultaneously while eliminating many drawbacks of manual handling. For example, they significantly mitigate potential operational risks that can be caused by labor scarcity. Freeing workers from back-breaking labor not only reduces employee injuries, it enables them to be shifted to higher-value jobs.
AMRs
Mobile robots can be inserted into a DC with little or no new infrastructure, requiring only a short integration period to learn their surroundings. Vision and mapping technologies enable AMRs to perceive and navigate warehouse environments with minimal changes to your facility’s infrastructure. And they’re intelligent enough to recognize and avoid everything from people to fork truck tines.
By handling the seamless movement of goods between locations, AMRs enable full and continuous utilization of your workforce and equipment. And for even greater accuracy, many AMRs can be combined with technologies like hand scanners or voice systems.
