Honeywell is featured in ScanSource podcast “Don’t Change the Channel” on the topic of Click and Collect in the grocery segment.

In this podcast episode of the “Don’t Change the Channel,” podcast series, hosts Ian Thompson and Philip Heaton have an engaging and enlightening conversation with Karen Bomber, Honeywell’s Director of Industry Marketing and retail guru. During the interview, they discuss how grocers are navigating increased demand including:

  • The challenges of providing click and collect during times of high demand
  • How technology can help retailers implement an efficient click and collect model
  • How retailers can leverage mobile devices for applications beyond click and collect, such as cashier assisted point of sale and communications

Here are two takeaways from the podcast:

  • Grocers Are Adapting to Social Distancing with Click and Collect

Click and collect has gone from being a convenience to a necessity because of social distancing.  With click and collect, the consumer is now allowing a store associate to pick their produce, choose their cut of meat and fulfill their entire grocery order. Retailers are adapting to the needs of the customer and are training associates to look at expiration dates, how to pick from the shelf and substitute products when out of stock.

  • Grocers Are Empowering Associates with Mobile Technology

Grocers are rapidly investing and adopting mobile technologies to support critical in-store workflows such as click and collect. Software solutions such as Honeywell’s Guided Work provides voice enabled directions to the store associate allowing them to pick and pack online orders efficiently. Honeywell’s Smart Talk, a unified communication platform, facilitates the onboarding and training of store associates to perform these critical workflows. Grocers are leveraging these mobile technologies further for point-of-sale, people counting, inventory replenishment and more.

  • Pharmacies Changing to “Contactless” Scanning
  • Pharmacies and drug stores are slightly different from grocery. They have now moved to “contactless” scanning because of the new more extensive cleaning protocols. Pharmacies, drug stores and some grocers are now using true disinfectant solutions to clean devices.
